Children's Director Positon Description

The Director of Children’s Ministry is a part-time position requiring 25 hours per week, compensated at a rate of $18.00 per hour, with an additional $1,000.00 allowance for professional expense.  This position reports directly to the Senior Pastor, with daily oversight and direction provided by the Executive Pastor.

Principal Focus of the Director of Children’s Ministry:

  • Oakton is ONE church with three campuses

  • Develop and recruit volunteers to lead all areas of children's ministry and receive permission to implement the volunteer from the Senior Pastor. The objective is to have volunteer servants actively leading all activities. 

  • To oversee and direct all activities and programs of the Children’s ministries through the volunteer leaders of each specified ministry.

  • To be the liaison between the area of the Children's Ministry and the staff. The senior pastor will report needed information to the Leadership Board.

  • Meet with the volunteer teams quarterly to discuss curriculum, volunteer needs, supplies, concerns, updates on technology, or announcements. Includes youth volunteers (trainings or along with the adult meetings)

  • Communicate with volunteers on a regular basis, not just in church but create relationships with those serving.

  • EVANGELISM: being sensitive to lead others to Christ

    • Visit parents of children NOT attending children’s activities.

    • Participate in weekly school visitations

    • Who are you personally focusing on leading to Christ

  • Participate in the Sunday service by watching online or in person.

Occasional Duties:

  • Plan and oversee local events (i.e.: VBS, fair service ideas, Hullabaloo Night, Harvest Dinner, Christmas Programs, service projects)

  • Assist in overseeing or participating in other ministries as needed. (i.e.: ONE camp, Stockton, Y early church suppers, Life group etc.)

  • Refer to the General Office Staff job description for additional responsibilities, which may include any tasks required of you.

 

Preferred and Required Skills (pay rated on preferred skills and requirements)

  • Ability to engage and attract people with a spontaneous and outgoing personality.​

    • A natural connection with children, making you a "children magnet."

  • Must possess knowledge and understanding of creative media content across various platforms  (Oakton App. Website, Facebook, You tube, X, etc).

  • Must have an ongoing relationship with the Lord and attend church on a regular basis. (Sunday morning, Sunday night, Wednesday etc.)

  • Must have experience (preferred 3 years) and be called into children’s ministries.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license (preferred class B)

  • Preferred College education, with further preference given to Bible College education.
